In order to select a suitable photo for final outcome, a trip was taken to Kuala Lumpur, the city of Malaysia. Of all the photo taken, this was selected due to the natural gap in between the 3 buildings which simulates one of the 4 butterfly wings.
Using specialised software and plugins, several experimentation were carried out to find a suitable direction, shape of matrix, and the way patterns were portrayed.

BEYOND THE SCREEN
Through the exponential surge of technological advancement through the past few decades, electronic devices became ever increasingly common and mostly, needed. Such a need gradually became a form of dependence with the aid of information transfer, disguised as ‘communication’.
Obstructing the composition, are the elements of computing devices interface. The grains of dispersed matrix shows the pattern of organic interaction in the digital environment while the boxes represent applications, smart devices, and the glitches in the engagement with our surrounding - signifying a frail reality in our perception.
This composition aim to raise awareness towards the forgotten ambiance beyond the screen of digital devices. Through the montage of 4 separate pieces of architectural photography, the white negative space of the sky was utilized to illustrate a butterfly as a symbol of beauty. It reminds us the neglected beauty of each unseen composition and hence, the effort of a creator.
The submission was selected to be top 20th finalist out of 900+ participants.
